The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) is the UK's  largest accountancy trade association. It has around 120,000 mmebers. Following the Insolvency Act 1986 and the Companies Act 1989, it acts a regulators of the insolvency and external auditing jurisdictions. It does not owe a 'duty of care' either to its members or to anyone who may be affected by its actions. It is the front for an internbtional auditing cartel dominates by the Big Four accountancy firms. It campaigns on their behalf to dilute auditor liability, stymie reforms on accounting and money laundering. It is always silent o the question of responsibilities of audit firms.

As the ICAEW as a regulator and its members enjoy considerable social privileges, this page will offer critical commentaries on its activities.
