Everyday people are being ripped off. Accountants, lawyers and corporate executive's destroyed people's savings, investments, pensions, jobs and homes. All in accordance carefully developed plans. Are audited published accounts worth anything?
The accountancy bodies make plenty of pious claims about ethics and 'serving the public interest'. Yet they do not owe a 'duty of care' to anyone. They are undemocratic and have a history of opposing change. They are part of the problem. It is a scandal that they act as regulators.
