ACCA FAILS TO MAKE THE ACCOUNTANCY RESEARCH GRADE

The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) has announced its composition of the Panel for assessing the quality of accounting research (see below). The Panel excludes any representation from ACCA.  A representative from  the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) will play a part in assessing the value and relevance of  accounting research published from 1996 to 2000.

The Conference of Professors of Accounting and Finance (CPAF) met in Manchester on 7-8th September 1999 to consider matters relevant to the future of accountancy education and research. Significantly, there was no representative from ACCA. Perhaps, the people concerned were all enjoying overseas trips or perhaps they are not really interested in any of the long-term challenges facing accountancy education.
