DISCIPLINARY HEARING FOR FORMER ACCA DEPUTY-PRESIDENT IS DEFERRED

ACCA TO DISCIPLINE ITS FORMER DEPUTY-PRESIDENT (5 May 2000)

As exclusively reported by AABA, ACCA has sought to discipline its former Vice-President Ray Gardiner. However, the proceedings have been postponed until November 2000 as Ray Gardiner is suffering from ill health.

It should be noted that  on 5th July 1999, ACCA President John Brockwell informed Austin Mitchell MP that "ACCA's Council gave careful consideration to the course of action it should take with respect to Ray Gardiner, including the possibility of disciplinary action being brought against him. It decided that disciplinary action was inappropriate".

Under the Human Rights Act 1998, Ray Gardiner is entitled to a 'fair hearing'. It is doubtful that he will receive this.
