Papers for the EGM to be held on 17th February 2000 have been mailed.  AABA urges ACCA members to SUPPORT THE RESOLUTION. This is the only way ACCA members will have any say in influencing the future of the Association.

The usual 'dirty' tricks of the ACCA officials are immediately visible.

• The organizers of the EGM were only permitted 2 pages of statements to support the resolution but ACCA officials give themselves 20 pages. Hardly an ethical conduct. An organisation whivch takes 20 pages to respond to a two page statement is clearly paranoid and has a lot to hide.

• The ACCA statement says that Council members Ray Gardiner and Soon Kwai Choi were excluded from any discussions of the EGM. Yet the statement claims that the documents are issued by ACCA Council. How can this be when two council had no say.

• ACCA officials have made full use of the in-house magazine to make their points. but they have not given any space to the organizers of the EGM.

• In 1995, ACCA council called an EGM  to abandon the name ACCA and go for ACPA. The move cost the ACCA £600,00 and was ultimately rejected by the Privy Council. This Council inspired EGM was held on a Saturday. The argument was that this give more members an opportunity to attend. This time they have decided to hold the EGM at 11 a.m. on a Thursday. Clearly they don't want people to attend.

• For EGMs, it is customary that the proposers of the resolution make their case first and then this is followed by the opposing case. When ACCA members open their envelopes they will find that the first document is a letter from ACCA President urging them to reject the EGM resolution.
