ACCA leadership jealously safeguards statistics about the membership composition. It does not want any informed debate about the future of ACCA. Perhaps, the ACCA leadership can explain (unlikely) why with all the glossy magazine, presidential letters and corporate reports, it fails to give useful information to its members.
ACCA already has little influence in the UK. In the public practice wing its members are confined to low-paid work. ACCA has lost its represnetation on IFAC. ACCA membership is too thinly spread out and has no real identity anywhere in the world.
The analysis below shows that the number of UK individuals joining
ACCA
is declining . Of the 33,000 new members joining since 1994, nearly 50%
are from outside the UK. Since 1996, the members joining from the UK
has
been in decline even though ACCA claims that record numbers are passing
the final exams. ACCA Council is dominated by UK members. Non-UK
membership
is poorly represented. ACCA hardly offers any membership facilities.
The
UK members do not even have a library. The non-UK members get plenty of
Viceroy like visits (free holidays) from ACCA officials but little
else.
